A Safe Place for Healing: Deirdre’s House

Community members and organizations will gain an overview of Deirdre’s House, the Morris County Child Advocacy Center supporting children and families. Learn about our mission, services, and collaborative approach with community partners. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of how we support children through the response and healing process while promoting safety and advocacy in our community.

Participants gain a comprehensive understanding of how to recognize and respond to suspected child abuse and the role of a Child Advocacy Center. Learn what services are available through Deirdre’s House and how we support children and families through the justice and healing process. Attendees will also receive clear guidance on when and where to report concerns and how to take appropriate action to keep children safe.

Offered in two separate sessions for students and caregivers, this presentation explores how to recognize, prevent, and respond to cyberbullying. Students learn how to be upstanders, support peers, and make safe, smart choices online. Topics include safe social media use, digital boundaries, positive online behavior, mental health impacts, consequences, and when and how to seek help and support.

This presentation empowers adults to confidently navigate technology with their children. Learn how to identify risky apps, set healthy boundaries, implement effective safety measures, and respond to concerns such as cyberbullying. Gain practical tools and conversation starters to build trust, strengthen communication, and keep children safe and supported online.

Designed for young children, this fun and engaging story time gently introduces body safety and personal boundaries in a comfortable, positive, and age-appropriate way. Through interactive storytelling and an activity, children build confidence, learn that they can set boundaries, and understand that their voice matters. After the story, children enjoy a hands-on activity to complete with their caregiver and take home.

When a school community is affected by a sensitive allegation of abuse or a concerning incident, clear guidance makes all the difference. This program offers two tailored presentations, one for school staff and one for caregivers, to help adults confidently support children, respond to difficult questions, and communicate in age-appropriate, reassuring ways. Participants leave with practical tools to promote stability, strengthen trust, and guide children and families through the healing process.

This presentation helps students understand consent, personal boundaries, and what healthy relationships look like online and in person. Students learn to recognize peer pressure, unsafe behaviors, including grooming, and the importance of trusted safe adults. The session includes interactive scenarios and games that build confidence and decision-making skills, allow students to practice safe and healthy responses, and explain how to seek help when needed.

This interactive, scenario-based resource fair helps students prepare for real-world challenges. Students engage with more than 20 local agencies through hands-on scenarios focused on learning how to access community support and services. This highly sought-after program is typically booked a year in advance.
